Max Lyman Scott

Max Lyman Scott, 77, of Morristown, passed away Friday, May 3, 2013 at Kindred Hospital South in Greenwood. He was born October 10, 1935, in Hancock County. Max was the son of Ralph and Phoebe (Foster) Scott. He married Dora Ann Carter on June 20, 1964, and she survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Roberta (husband, Kevin) Temple of Mesa, Arizona; son, David (wife, Tara) Scott of Shirley; grandchildren, Gregory Swerdan, Stephanie Swerdan, Savannah Scott, Jonathan Scott and Kaitlyn Scott; three step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Scott; sister, Doris Badgley; and half-brothers, John Scott, Dale Scott and Donald Scott. Max graduated from Morristown High School in 1953. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Scott was a member of the Morristown Christian Church, a 50-year member and Past Master of Morristown Masonic Lodge No. 193, a Past Worthy Patron of Morristown Order of Eastern Star Lodge No. 316 and the Scottish rite. He had been a computer systems programmer analyst supervisor, designing and maintaining computer systems for the U.S. Army Finance Center, retiring in 1988 after 26 years of service. Max enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising show rabbits. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 6, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown, with Masonic rites at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the funeral home, with Rev. Fred Hickman and Bill Farmer officiating. Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Morristown Masonic Lodge Building Fund, P.O. Box 415, Morristown, Indiana 46161.
