Maxine Ellen Sparks, 86, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at Heritage House Convalescent Center.
Born Aug. 13, 1919, in Marion Township, she was the daughter of the late Max Leroy and Mabel Christine (Moore) Losey. She married Charles "Gordon" Sparks on Jan. 20, 1946, and he preceded her in death on July 30, 2001.
Survivors include one son, Richard Eugene Sparks of Shelbyville; one daughter, Darlene Ann (husband, Tom) Nickles of Shelbyville; one sister, Cleo Lindsey of Mesa, Ariz.; two grandsons, Gregory T. Nickles of Shelbyville and Douglas G. Nickles of Dallas, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Payton Nickles and Grant Nickles.
She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Walter Losey, Roy Losey, Waldo Losey and Glen Losey; and two sisters, Bernice McDaniel and Ruby Losey.
Mrs. Sparks had been employed at ElanJay Garment Factory from 1960 until retiring in 1980. She previously was employed at Camp Atterbury-Laundry Services from 1943 to 1949.
She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene for more than 60 years, where she was the financial secretary for more than 30 years and a Sunday school teacher; Nazarene Women's Missionary Society, where she held several offices; Nazarene Young Peoples? Society; and International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Broadway Chapel, 232 W. Broadway St.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Church of the Nazarene, 2315 S. Riley Highway, with the Rev. Dr. Steven Bohall officiating.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
