Michael Kent "Luke" Whitten

Michael Kent "Luke" Whitten, 58, of Indianapolis, formerly of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2015 at his residence. He was born April 19, 1957, in Rushville, the son of Gilbert L. and Irma K. (Emholt) Whitten. Michael is survived by his parents of Shelbyville; brothers, Todd Whitten, Daryl Whitten and wife, Sandra, and Brett Whitten and wife, Cindy, all of Shelbyville; sisters, Kim Randolph and husband, Gary, and Amy Piersall and husband, Chris, both of Shelbyville; nephews, Garyn Randolph, Gabe Randolph, Ryan Daryk Whitten, Luke Piersall, Jake Piersall, Garrett Davis and Gage Whitten; nieces, Reanna Brown and Colleen Davis; special friends, Michael Wemhoff and Betsy Strong; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Clarence and Bessie (McDaniel) Emholt and Frank and Mary (Barnhart) Whitten; and nieces, Kristen Randolph and Sarah Randolph. Michael graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1975. He had worked at Duo’s Catering for several years. Michael enjoyed cooking and baking. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelby County Animal Shelter, 705 Hale Road, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
