Michael Dwain Mattingly, 49, of Flat Rock, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.
He was born December 30, 1964, in Franklin, the son of Richard “Dick” and Bernita Mattingly. He married Shelly Owens Carpenter on May 18, 2013, and she survives.
Other survivors include his daughter, Autum Hernandez and husband, Leonel of Shelbyville; son, Coty Mattingly and wife, Crystal of Shelbyville; step-daughters, Ashley Coyle and husband, Jordon and Stephanie Carroll and boyfriend, Jason Haymaker, both of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Kameryn, Alejandro, Israel, Daniel, Abby, Damien, Trinity and Faylyn and close friends, Lonnie McQuery and Kevin Croucher.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bob Mattingly.
Mike graduated from Triton Central High School in 1983.
He worked as a laser operator at O’Neal Steel, for over 20 years.
Mike enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, camping, playing corn hole, working in the yard and being with his friends.
He also leaves behind his dog, Misty.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2014 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Rev. Tony Beck officiating.
