Mildred G. “Mid” Kendall, 88, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Heritage House of Shelbyville.
She was born March 7, 1929, in Marengo, the daughter of Lester Hamilton “Tom” and Annabelle (Creclius) White. On January 13, 1949, she married Martin Dale Kendall, and he preceded her in death on March 6, 2002.
Mid is survived by her daughter, Janice Skidmore and husband, Sherdian, of Indianapolis; son, Gregg Kendall and wife, Cindy, of Shelbyville; sister, Evelyn Sloan of Marengo; grandchildren, Amy, Michelle, Jeffery, Jason, Kelly, Erica, Kristie, Erin and Katy; 16 great-grandchildren and one on the way; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark Allen Kendall; sisters, Katherine Jones and Zelma Nicholson; and brothers, Sherrill White and Gene White.
She graduated from Marengo High School in 1947.
Mid was a member of the United Brethren Church in Marengo. When she moved to Shelby County, she became an active member of Rays Crossing Christian Union Church, where she taught Sunday school and Bible school to the 5th and 6th graders. Mid also helped cook for many church dinners and was a member of the Ladies Aide group.
She was a nurse’s aide at Major Hospital for 37 years.
Mid enjoyed working in her flowers, knitting, quilting and gardening. She also enjoyed collecting birdhouses.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastors Jim Earlywine and Jerri Cadwallader officiating.
Interment will be at Bennett Cemetery in Shelby County.
