Mildred L. Talbert, 92, of fountaintown passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010, at her home.
Born October 1, 1917, in Moral Township, she was the daughter of George and Alta Mae (Barlow) Abel. She married William D. Talbert on October 24, 1936, and her preceded her in death on September 14, 1990.
Survivors include her daughter, Beverly L. Jimmerson of Indianapolis; son, Gene Edward (wife, Kathi) Talbert of Loxahatchee, Florida; sister, Esther Legon of Fountaintown, Viola Connor and Jessie Williams, both of Shelbyville; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; son, Carl William Talbert; daughter, Madelyn Jo Layfield; brothers, Ray, Roy, Herbert, Earl, Henry and Paul; and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Talbert was a homemaker. She was previously employed at Admiral Corp. for more than 10 years and at G.C. Murphy and J.C. Penney.
She graduated from Moral Township High School in 1936.
Mrs. Talbert was a member of New Life United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Freeman FAmily Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Brother Joseph Smith officiating.
Interment will be in London Cemetery in Shelby County.
