Mildred “Louise” Chaney, 77, of Fairland, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis.
She was born March 7, 1939, in Hazard, Kentucky, the daughter of Verdia and Hester (Godsey) Francis. She married Silas Chaney on January 6, 1962, and he preceded her in death on May 10, 2008.
Louise is survived by her son, Jeff Chaney and wife, Michelle, of Shelbyville; sisters, Faye Patrick of Hazard, Von Halter of Dayton, Ohio, and Betty Kelly of Tampa, Florida; brothers, Alfred Francis and David Francis, both of Hazard, and Arliss Francis of Georgia; grandchildren, Charissa, Andrea, Kory and Courtney; and great-grandchildren, Rilee and Madison.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Lesley Carlisle; brothers, Bill Francis and Edgar Francis; and sister, May Farler.
Louise graduated in 1957 from M. C. Napier High School in Hazard.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
A Gathering of Friends will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
A Celebration of Life will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
