M. Maxine Cooley, rural Fairland, died Sunday, August 07, 2011 at the age of 88.
Born on February 21, 1923, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of John and Maude (Lawrence) Alexander. She was married to Ronald Cooley on June 23, 1945, who preceded her in death December 5, 1970.
She had worked for the Internal Revenue Service and the National Labor Relations Board from which she retired in 1985 as a legal secretary.
She was a member of the former London Methodist Church of the W.S.C.S and Kum-Join Us class. Also she was active in teaching Sunday school and the Cub Scouts of that church.
Survivors include one son, Rick Cooley from Check, VA, one granddaughter, Christina Sparks and husband William from Tazewell, VA, three great granddaughters, Ashley Sparks, Amber Sparks, and Brienna Sparks, all from Tazewell, VA.
Preceding her in death were her parents; four brothers, Elbert Alexander, Hubert Alexander, Paul Alexander and Johnny Alexander; two sisters, Josephine Talbert Anderson and Mamie Alexander; one son, Tony Cooley, and one infant grandson, Jamison Nathan Cooley.
Private graveside services will be at Boggstown Cemetery in Boggstown.
