Mildred (Means) Sandman, 91, of Shelbyville, died Friday, April 29, 2005, at Ashford Place Health Campus.
Born March 28, 1914, in Fort Worth, Texas, she was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Norma (Brown) Means. She married Chester G. Sandman in 1936, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 6, 1991.
Survivors include one son, Larry L. (wife, Donna) Sandman of Shelbyville; one daughter, Rita (husband, Stewart) Ryan of Norman, Okla.; one sister, Eleanor Evans of Huntsville, Texas; six grandchildren, Burke Sandman, Brent Sandman, Blake Sandman, Kathleen Ryan, Colleen (Ryan) Martin and Ellen (Ryan) Vinciguerra; two stepgrandchildren, Paul Huggins and Dawn Schmidt; seven great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
Mrs. Sandman was a lifelong Shelbyville resident.
She was an artist and homemaker.
Mrs. Sandman graduated from Shelbyville High School and attended Franklin College.
She was a 77-year member of First Baptist Church. She also was a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa Sorority and former Women?s Golf Champion at Elk?s Blue River Golf Club.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Funeral Home, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, 27 W. Broadway St., with the Rev. Dan McCollough officiating.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
