Miles F. “Mick” Richard, 73, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, November 18, 2013 at Major Hospital.
Mick was born January 18, 1940, in Indianapolis, the son of Dr. Norman and Emily (Bowser) Richard. He married Kathleen “Kathy” (Clancy) Goldyn on October 20, 1990, and she survives.
Other survivors include his daughters, Amy (husband, Rick) Wackerly of Greenwood, Susan (husband, Darrell) Barnes of Westfield and Andrea Goldyn (husband, Ross Haynes) of Edinburgh; brother, James Richard of Miami, Florida; grandchildren, Lauren Wackerly, Emily Wackerly, Sarah Barnes, Jenna Barnes, Reese Haynes and John Patrick Haynes; mother of his children, Joyce Richard of Greenwood; and mother-in-law, Mary Clancy of Falls Church, Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mick graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1958, and attended Indiana University in Bloomington.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Mick was formerly a car salesman at Sandman Brothers, retiring in 2005, after 43 years of service.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Aerie Eagles Lodge No. 766, Shelby Lodge No. 28 F&AM, American Legion Post No. 70, Forty & Eight Club and the Varmits Club.
Mick enjoyed fishing, Notre Dame, Colts and Indiana University football.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m.
Private graveside services will be conducted.
