Miriam E. Knoebel, 95, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017, at MHP Medical Center in Shelbyville.
She was born January 22, 1922, in Shelby County, the daughter of Edward and Alma (Vawter) Weintraut. She married Charles L. Knoebel on April 11, 1943, and he preceded her in death on January 18, 1992.
Miriam is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Nolley and husband, Jim, of Shelbyville, and Cindy Butzin and husband, Bruce, of Kokomo; grandchildren, Kim Rumple and husband, Tim, Sarah Butzin, and Aaron Butzin and wife, Erin; and great-grandchildren, Allison Rumple, Nathan Rumple, Jonathan Butzin and Grace Butzin.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Miriam enjoyed attending church services at Ashford Place Health Campus.
She retired from the Shelbyville-Shelby County Public Library, with over 40 years of service.
Miriam was formerly a member of Delta Theta Tau.
She loved to read.
Miriam enjoyed the time she spent visiting with people.
She loved her family and being a homemaker.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shelbyville.
