Miriam J. Poe, 88, died Saturday, April 8, 2006, at Heart Land Health Care in Avon. Born June 6, 1917, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of the late Onie and Alice (Heite) Tucker. She married Joyce H. Poe, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 1990. Survivors include three sons, Phillip K. Poe of Camby, Steven D. Poe of Shelbyville and J. Brett Poe of Pleasant View; one daughter, Joycelyn K. Huckaby of Brownsburg; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by one brother, Donald J. Tucker. Mrs. Poe was a longtime Shelbyville resident. She had been employed for 35 years at the Shelbyville-Shelby County Public Library, where she worked with the bookmobile for five years. She retired in 1997. Mrs. Poe graduated in 1935 from Shelbyville High School. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Marion Township Homemakers Club. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Campbell officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer?s Association, Central Indiana Chapter, 9135 N. Meridian St., Suite B4, Indianapolis, IN 46260.
