Monna Gayle Owens, 85, of Shelbyville passed away Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Walker Place in Shelbyville.
She was born July 24, 1934, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Dale Mitchell and Kathryn (Jordan) Franklin. On January 26, 1973, she married Max L. Owens, and he preceded her in death on July 20, 2009.
Gayle is survived by her daughter, S. Jill Montgomery and husband, Brent, of Greensburg; sons, David M. Green and wife, Barbara, of Shelbyville, Craig N. Owens and wife, Yasmina, of Des Moines, Iowa, and L. Roger Owens and wife, Ginger, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; brothers, Ronald Mitchell and wife, Karen of Shelbyville, and John Franklin and wife, Debby, of Matthews, North Carolina; grandchildren, Luke Runnebohm, Jake Runnebohm, Megan West, Cody Montgomery, Benjamin Green, Ross Green, Alexander Green, Emily Green, Graham Owens, Simeon Owens, Silas Owens and Mary Clare Owens; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to Max, Gayle was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Herb Franklin; sister, Phyllis Meyer; and grandson, Joshua Montgomery.
Gayle graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1952.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Gayle enjoyed participating in a bowling league and playing bridge.
Friends may gather from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church, 34 W. Washington St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Rev. Colin Cress officiating.
Inurnment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
