Morris Tobian, 91 of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Major Hospital.
Born February 25, 1918, in LaPorte, he was the son of Benjamin and Molly Tobian. He was married to the love of his life, Helen (McLane) Tobin, for 66 years, and she preceded him in death on February 18, 2009.
Survivors include his sons, the Rev. John (wife,Lydia) Tobian of Grand Rapids, Mich., Dr. Jim (wife, Carol) Tobin of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Bob (wife, Debbie) Tobian of Shelbyville; brother, Cyrus Tobian of Sarasota, Fla.; 10 devoted grandchildren; and 16 devoted great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Meyer Tobian.
Mr. Tobian was the owner of Milroy Canning co.
He received the Sagamore of the Wabash and was an active volunteer in Boy Scouts, the Republican Party and Shelby County Historical Society.
Mr. Tobian graduated from LaPorte High School and Indiana University.
He had served as president of Indiana Canners Association, Shelbyville School Board and Hendricks PTA; and was vice president of Indiana Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
A memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 124 W. Broadway St., his family will greet friends at 10 a.m. in the church parlor.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St.
