Nancy Lee Niemann

Nancy Lee Elmore Niemann, 67, of Stillwater, Oklahoma formerly of Fairland passed away Saturday, August 8, 2009 at her residence. Born March 30, 1942, she was the youngest child of Malcolm and Dorothy Elmore. She was raised outside of Fairland, Indiana. As a child her mother discovered her great talent as a pianist and organist. She continued to use her music throughout her schooling, providing accompaniment for many singing groups. One such group included Dale Niemann, who she later married. Nancy graduated from Butler School of Music. She was an organist for Central United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, in the music department of Shortridge High School, Music Director for the Presbyterian Church in Shelbyville and worked at Franklin Central High School until she retired. In 2007, she moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma to be near her son. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She leaves her son, Matthew (wife, Tracy) Niemann; sister, Laura Mae (husband, Wilbur) Harvey; brothers, Martin (wife, Barbara) Elmore and Robert (wife, Maxine) Elmore and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, 124 W. Broadway St., with the Rev. Gary Huffman officiating. Private graveside services will be conducted in Memorial Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
