Nancy (Montgomery) Jeffries, 59, of Indianapolis, former Shelbyville resident, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, at her home.
Born June 28, 1947, in Middletown, Ohio, she was the daughter of Walter and Betty (Proffitt) Montgomery. She married David C. Jeffries Aug. 17, 2006, and he survives in Indianapolis.
Other survivors include her mother of Germantown, Ohio; and three sisters, Mary (husband, Robert) Hayes of LaGrange, Janet (husband, Mark) McMullin of Moores Hill and Sheila (husband, Greg) Smith of Campbellsville, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Mrs. Jeffries had been director of operations for the Indiana State Teachers Association, retiring in November 2005.
She graduated from Union High School in College Corner, Ohio; attended Ball State University; and graduated from Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis, in 1987.
Mrs. Jeffries was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Indianapolis.
She also was a member of Order of Eastern Star, past matron of the Waldron OES; Women of the Moose, Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars, life member; Ladies Auxiliary of Disabled American Veterans, life member; Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion; and the Howard County Vietnam Veterans Association.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, Freeman Family Funeral Homes, 819 S. Harrison St., with Eastern Star services at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jenny Boteler Badenhop officiating.
Burial will be in the College Corner Cemetery in Ohio.
