Natalie Louise Breedlove Brandenburger, a life-long Shelbyville resident, died Sunday, February 3, 2013. She was the only daughter of Ora and Louise Klare Breedlove, born July 1, 1927. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, William Breedlove of Scottsdale, Arizona. She married Russell E. Brandenburger, Jr., who survives, on May 9, 1948. Also surviving are four children; Diedre (Brandenburger) Young (m. Marc Young) of Peoria, Illinois, Louise (Brandenburger) James (m. Bobby James) of Shelbyville, David Brandenburger (m. Joan Uhl) of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Julie (Brandenburger) Brodersen (m. Craig Brodersen) of Grain Valley, Missouri. Grandchildren include Dylan Young of Bloomington, Indiana, Justin Young of Superior, Colorado, Rebecca James of Portland, Oregon, Nathan Brandenburger, in the Air Force stationed in Lakenheath, England, Natalie and Nora Brandenburger of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Diedre Louise and Ben Brodersen of Grain Valley, Missouri. One great-grandchild survives, Shaka Young of Superior, Colorado.
Natalie was a 1945 Shelbyville High School alumni and a graduate of Christian College, Columbia, Missouri. She was employed at The Shelbyville News in the late 1940’s and also helped at her parent’s clothing store, Breedlove’s Mens Wear. Until a few years ago, she owned and operated Cedarthorn Gifts, a home based unique gift shop featuring antiques and highlighting her many hand made and original craft items. She was quite talented and enjoyed sharing her outstanding creations. She loved nature and animals of all kinds but especially her cats and Border collies. She loved Christmas and was lovingly referred to as ‘Miss Christmas’ by her family. She would shop, plan gifts and special surprises throughout the year making the Holiday truly magic for those she loved. Her favorite pastime was reading and she was a frequent patron of the Shelbyville Public Library most of her life. She was an inactive member of Tri Kappa and Sigma Lambda Chi. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A gathering of friends will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
