Nellie B. Pitzer, 84, of Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Greenwood Health and Living in Greenwood.
She was born February 16, 1931, in Hustonville, Kentucky, the daughter of Ben and Addie (Lane) Hair. She married James E. “Jimmy” Pitzer, and he preceded her in death on March 23, 2001.
Nellie is survived by her son, James A. Pitzer and wife, Debbie, of Indianapolis; sisters, Lois Levi of Indianapolis, Betty Robinson of Greenwood and Patricia Newkirk and husband, Rick, of Birmingham, Alabama; brother, Jim Hair and wife, Anita, of Lebanon; grandchildren, Connie Peavler, Tina Peavler, Michael Peavler, Nicole Atwood, Lisa Pitzer, Courtney Pitzer, Marissa Pitzer and Gabrielle Pitzer; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Nellie graduated from Harry E. Wood High School in Indianapolis.
She found the Lord later in life and was very excited about her new found relationship with Jesus Christ.
Nellie was a homemaker and was dedicated to her family. She enjoyed visiting with her friends and family. Nellie loved her grandchildren and the time she spent with them.
A gathering of friends will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Faith Trinity Pentecostal Church, 505 W. Pennsylvania St. in Shelbyville.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with Brother Perry Fouts officiating.
Services entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
