Nina Lee Schirg, 91, of Edinburgh, formerly of Valparaiso, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at her residence.
She was born July 14, 1924, in Rochester, New York, the daughter of Eugene Arnold and Jean (Tuller) Arnold Pooley. On March 3, 1956, she married her husband of 60 years, Charles D. Schirg, and he survives.
Nina is also survived by her daughters, Debbie Featherston and husband, Kip, of Edinburgh, and Sandy Lauridsen and husband, Don, of Kouts; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Elkin Arnold and Jan Tuller.
Nina was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Valparaiso, where she was active in the ladies groups. She was a 50 year member of the Buffalo Order of Eastern Star.
She was formerly a registered nurse at the Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, New York.
Nina donated her time by helping various charitable organizations, including Red Cross.
Private family services will be observed.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
