Norma June "Nony" Sosbe, 75, of Shelbyville passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010 at her residence.
Born May 14, 1935, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Charles and Laura (Rowlett) Purtlebaugh. She married Richard Sosbe on January 27, 1952, and he preceded her in death on September 8, 1999.
Survivors include her sons, Kent Sosbe and Gregory Sosbe, both of Shelbyville; daughters, Peggy (husband, Richard) Thurston of Shelbyville, Pamela Simic of Terre Haute, and Paige (husband, Chris) Bush of Anderson; brothers, John Purtlebaugh, Avery Purtlebaugh and Glenn Purtlebaugh, all of Shelbyville, Dwight Purtlebaugh of Fortville; sisters, Mildred Sosbe, Ruth (husband, Clifford) Gains and Mary (husband, Joe) Come, all of Shelbyville, and Betty (husband, Larry) Skidmore of Myrtle Beach, North Carolina; and seven grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard "Rick" Sosbe, Jr; sisters, Hazel Knight and Janet Loughman and Donna Purtlebaugh.
Mrs. Sosbe worked at the Blue River Career Center from 1981 until retiring in the early 1990's.
She enjoyed crocheting and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Don Bennett officiating.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
