Norman Dwain Ivie, 81, of Shelbyville, passed away, Wednesday March 4, 2015 at Heritage House of Shelbyville.
He was born July 7, 1933, in Shelbyville, the son of Frank D. and Wynona (Talbert) Ivie. On January 16, 1954, he married his wife of 60 years, Karen Markley, and she survives.
Norman is also survived by his brother, John Herb Ivie of Redding, California; sister, Nancy Couch of Franklin; brother-in-law, Barry Sears of Lakeland, Florida and several nieces and nephews that were like his own children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Nancy Kathryn Ivie; brother, Frank David Ivie; and sister, May Rose Sears.
Norman was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He was a member of American Legion Post No. 70.
Norman had formerly worked at Johnson Control, Spenax, John Burke Cabinets in Greenfield. He also delivered the Shelbyville News for five years.
He was a “jack of all trades” and loved being in the shop in his garage.
Norman enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was also preceded in death by his dog, Princess.
A gathering of friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Rev. Bob Langdon officiating.
Inurnment will be at Bennett Cemetery in Shelby County, with military graveside rites conducted by the local military committee.
