Olive M. "Granny" Briley, 94, of Shelbyville passed away Friday, November 9, 2007, at her home.
Born August 26, 1913, in Milroy, she was the daughter of Emmitt and Dora (Foreman) McGinn. She married Connie Edward Briley, and he preceded her in death on December 17, 1974.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Mandrell of St. Paul, son, Charles Patrick "Pat" (wife, Jane) Lewis of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Cora Peacock of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Debra Engle of Greenwood, Connie Hicks of Napoleon, Ralph A. Mandrell and Tina Watt, both of St. Paul, Patrick Lewis of Tennessee, Steven Lewis, Tracy Lewis and Beth Ann Lewis, all of Arizona, Herman Lewis and Tony Lewis, both of Indianapolis, and Valorie Lewis of Missouri; twenty-two greatgrandchildren; and 9 great-greatgrandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; son, Herbert Lewis Jr.; brothers, Edward McGinn and Floyd McGinn; sister, Katie Williams; and son-in-law, Ralph Mandrell.
Mrs. Briley had been employed at Western Electric from 1953 until retiring in 1975.
She was a former member of Adams United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Briley enjoyed playing euchre with her friends at Shelbyville Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. George Mitchell officiating.
Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery in Adams.
