Patricia A. Compton, 74, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Heritage House in Shelbyville.
Born May 18, 1936, in Shelby County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Garrett "Carl" and Fannie Mae (Dunn) Lawrence. She married Carl "Pete" Glidden on September 14, 1956, and he preceded her in death in 1963. She married Jack Compton on March 18, 1966, and he preceded her in death on October 28, 1994.
Survivors include her sons, Carl Todd (wife, Shelley) Glidden and Benjamin (wife, Lisa) Compton, both of Shelbyville; daughters, Tricia Ann Booth and Susan Compton, both of Shelbyville and Pamela Compton of Indianapolis; sister, Linda Terrell of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Samuel Booth, Grant Glidden, Kay Ann Meal, Alexander Booth, Nathan Glidden, Natalie Glidden, Jacqueline Compton, Mitchell Compton and Gael Compton.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barbara Richards; and brother, Jim Lawrence.
Mrs. Compton was a homemaker and former vice president of Compton Dairy, retiring in 2000.
She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1954, and had attended Franklin College.
Mrs. Compton was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was past president of United Methodist Women, and a past member of Unique Club, Current Topics and History Club.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 11 am Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the funeral home, Revs. Robert Campbell and Jim Cherry officiating.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
