Paul Edward Alexander, 84, of Fairland passed away Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Franklin Meadows in Franklin.
Born October 11, 1925, in Shelby County, he was the son of John and Maude (Lawrence) Alexander. He married Margaret Lucille Preston on November 20, 1945, and she survives.
Other survivors include his sons, Geoffrey Lynn Alexander of Fairland, Greggory Preston Alexander of Apache Junction, Arizona and Christopher David Alexander of Tempe, Arizona; sister, Mildred Maxine Cooley of Waldron; grandchildren, Jason Paul Alexander, John Keith Alexander, Daniel Alexander and Jessi Alexander; and one great-granddaughter, Reese Alexander.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Edward Alexander; sisters, Josephine Talbert and Mamie Alexander; and brothers, Elbert Alexander and Hubert Alexander.
Mr. Alexander was a lifelong Shelby County resident.
He formerly worked for U.S. Rubber, was a salesman for Westinghouse and later started his own electrical supply business.
Mr. Alexander was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving as a B-17 tail gunner with the 15th Air Force, flying out of Northern Italy.
He had attended Moral Township School, where he played basketball.
Mr. Alexander was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He attended New Life United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 am, Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 11 am Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Randall Slavans officiating.
Interment will be in Boggstown Cemetery.
