Paul M. Brown, 80, a lifelong Shelbyville resident, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Major Hospital.
Born October 3, 1932, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Harry Wallace and Janetta (Thurston) Brown.
Survivors include his daughters, Nancy (husband, Bruce) Penn of Shelbyville, Christy (John Norris) Ross of Greenwood and Stacy Brown of Bloomington; brother, Rick (wife, Ginny) Brown of Waldron; grandchildren, Jerritt Ross, Amber McClain, Charles Penn and Kate Penn; great-grandchildren, Carter Ross, Braylen McClain, Beckett McClain and Satsu Penn; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents, brothers, Aaron Brown, Bill Brown, Harley Q. Brown and Buford Brown; sisters, Betty McPherson, Martha Edwards, Wanda Armstrong, Shirley Brown and Nancy Brown; and a son-in-law.
Mr. Brown retired in 2005; he was a self-employed carpenter and built many homes in Shelby County and the surrounding area. He formerly owned Shelby Marine and Blue River Laminates; one of his many projects was installing counters in the pizza place under the Grandstand at the Shelby County fairgrounds. In his youth he worked at WSVL, the Alhambra Movie Theatre, the roller skating rink, the bowling alley, Porter Pool and was the head boy at the Shelbyville News.
He was a member of the Shelbyville Masonic Lodge and Exchange Club.
Paul always had a pet and was a great lover of animals. He also leaves behind his dog, Susie.
A Celebration of Life will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Knights of Columbus, 413 E. South St. in Shelbyville.
