Peggy Lou Larkey, 72, of Fountaintown passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at IU Health West Hospital in Avon.
Born April 9, 1939 in Scottsburg, Indiana, she was the daughter of Alva E. "Boots" and Helen (Gaither) Robinson. She married John Robert Larkey on October 11, 1959, and he survives.
Other survivors include her mother of Fairland, daughter, Karen (husband, Mario) Gioe of Indianapolis; son, Jeff Larkey of Fairland; sister, Kathy (husband, Rick) Ogden of Fishers; grandson, Brian (wife, Kim) Larkey; granddaughters, Dana Larkey, Kelli Larkey and Kristen Larkey; great-granddaughter, Jailyn Larkey and aunt, Katharine Gaither.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Mrs. Larkey graduated from Fairland High School in 1957.
She began her career at Robinson's Grocery, owned by her parents, then worked as a secretary for the State of Indiana. She retired from Fairland National Bank, now Key Banks, as a teller in 2000.
Mrs. Larkey was a member of Kappa Delta Phi and Fairland United Methodist Church and attended New Life United Methodist Church.
Peggy was crowned Corn Festival Princess on October 17, 1956, by Ronald Reagan.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm, Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the funeral home, with Rev. Randall Slavens officiating.
Interment will be in Fairland Cemetery in Fairland.
