Penny Diane Ashley, 52, of St. Paul, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born April 8, 1961, in Shelbyville, the daughter of William and Esther (Green) Lay. She married Brad E. Ashley on May 31, 1975, and he survives.
Other survivors include her sons, Bradley W. Ashley and wife, Milissa, of Westport and Josh W. Ashley and girlfriend, Brandy, of St. Paul; sisters, Cindy Swain and husband, Jimmie, of Waldron, Mona Green Blankenship and husband, John, and Tammy Ayers and husband, Gary, both of St. Paul; brothers, Larry Gene Gray Sr. of Westport, David Wayne Gray and wife, Cathy, of St. Paul and Larry Gene Gray Jr. and wife, Kelly, of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Chelsi Gilbert, Alexis Ashley, Dessoni Ashley, Deegan Ashley, Starly Ashley, Sylic Ashley and Zaydon Ashley; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Penny attended Waldron High School.
She was formerly a qualified medication aide.
Penny enjoyed playing bingo and motorcycle rides.
She loved her grandchildren and family, and most importantly time spent with them.
Penny also leaves behind her beloved pets, Spot, Dottie and Lily.
A gathering of friends will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. at the funeral home, with Buffy Powers officiating.
