Phillip Kirby Moore, 68, of Waldron, formerly of Bloomington, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at his residence.
He was born January 3, 1945, in Greenfield, the son of Lowell and Mary E. (Dunham) Moore.
Phil attended Waldron High School and later went on to become a firefighter at Van Buren Fire Department in Bloomington. He then became a paramedic for Bloomington Hospital Ambulance Service, where he retired after 26 years of service. Teaching and helping others about the EMS field was his passion.
He had a love for fishing and was notorious for the fish fries that followed. He also loved sharing his stories and adventures with others.
Survivors include his former wife of 43 years, Rita Tucker of Shelbyville; one brother, Doyt (wife, Terri) Moore of Flat Rock; sons, Kenny Moore of Shelbyville and Greg (wife, Tammy) Moore of Spencer; four grandchildren, Josh (wife, Rachel) Moore of Bloomington, Stephanie (husband, Jeff) Nanny of Spencer, Megan Moore of Bloomington and Tyler Moore of Spencer; and seven great-grandchildren, Kaylan, Ethan, Makenzie, Abby, Kalli, Makinna and Marli.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Norman Moore; and one great-grandchild, Jayden.
A celebration of life service will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Arlington United Methodist Church, 1820 Arlington Road, Bloomington, IN 47404.
Memorial contributions may be given to the church.
