Phyllis Jean Hurley, 74, of Fairland, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.
She was born on August 25, 1942, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Paul E. and Esther L. (Wendell) Anderson. She married William Harrison “Bill” Hurley on December 9, 1961, and he preceded her in death on April 10, 2016.
Phyllis is survived by her son, Robert Hurley Sr. of Greenfield; grandchildren, Tiffany Byrd, Nicholas Hurley, Robert Hurley Jr. and Cody Hurley; great-grandchildren, Jerred Mencer, Caleb Butler, Khaos Hurley and Shelby Badgley; and great-great-grandchildren; Zoey Marie Mencer, Ava Nichole Mencer and Bentley Little.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Tammy Lynette Israel; and brother, Bernard B. Anderson.
Phyllis was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Franklin, where she considered the members her family.
She was one of the women who originated the Logo7 athletic line, retiring in 2005.
Phyllis enjoyed gardening.
She cherished the time she spent taking care of and loving her grandbabies.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2016 at the funeral home, with Pastor Fred Brown officiating.
Interment will be in Boggstown Cemetery in Boggstown.
