Ralph C. Leppert, 86, of Shelbyville passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg.
He was born February 1, 1933, in Shelby County, the son of Alfred and Rosina (Bogeman) Leppert. On November 22, 1957, he married Joanne R. Meyer, and she preceded him in death on September 23, 2014.
Ralph is survived by his daughter, Denise “DeDe” Watler and husband, Danny, of Greensburg; son, Scott Leppert and wife, Kim, of Fishers; grandchildren, Chris Watler and fiancé, Ashlee Knollman, Dana Peters and husband, Matthew, Riley Leppert and Finley Leppert; great-granddaughter, Dylan Peters; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to Joanne, Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Joann Sullivan.
Ralph was a lifetime member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic minister and usher. He was a member of Sacred Heart Council No. 822 Knights of Columbus and 4th degree member of Father Vincent Bacquelin Assembly Shelbyville for over 50 years.
He was a veteran of the Army National Guard.
Ralph was a local businessman for over 40 years.
He was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elk. Ralph was a devoted and very active 50-year member of the Shelbyville Lions Club, holding every office and receiving the Lion of the Year award. Ralph enjoyed spending time with his friends at coffee club at the Chaparral.
Ralph was an avid golfer and gun enthusiast.
He enjoyed going fishing and mowing his grass.
Ralph loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville, with the rosary recited at 3:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St. in Shelbyville.
Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shelbyville.
