Randall Roy Coomer, 69, of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Major Hospital.
Born September 22, 1940 in Greenfield, Indiana, he was the son of Roy and Wilma (Ross) Stephens. He married June R. Nail on December 31, 1964, and she survives.
Other survivors include daughter, Beth Hasenbein Mummert of Shelbyville; sister, Lana (husband, Donald) Niederhauser of Speedway; brothers, Richard Stephens of Ohio and Daniel Stephens of Peru; grandson, Shawn (wife, Melissa) Mummert of Shelbyville; and great-grandchildren, Kaleb Wanger, Addison Mummert, Taige Mummert and Ava Mummert.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Landis Stephens, who helped raise him after his father died at an early age; daughter, Lisa Kay Cates; sister, Shirley Earlywine and brothers, Billy David Coomer and John Stephens.
Mr. Coomer had resided in Shelbyville for the past 46 years.
He retired from Chrysler of Kokomo in 1996, then worked at Superwash car wash for 12 years.
Mr. Coomer was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, last serving in 1963.
He graduated from Greenfield High School in 1959.
Mr. Coomer was a member of Blue Ridge Christian Union Church and United Auto Workers.
He enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St..
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor Dennis Hirschauer officiating.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
