Randall Thompson Maurice, 59, of Fairland, died Thursday, July 13, 2006, at Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus.
Born Aug. 11, 1946, in Beech Grove, he was the son of William R. and Betty L. Thompson. He married Suzanne L. Strotman on July 23, 1966, and she survives.
Other survivors include his parents of Fairland; one daughter, Randee (husband, Charlie) Taylor of Shelbyville; two brothers, Jeffery (wife, Pat) Maurice of Fountaintown and Roger (wife, Star) Maurice of Fairland; three grandchildren, Gregory Taylor, Lauren Taylor and Kristen Taylor; several aunts and uncles; several nephews; one great-niece; and two great-nephews.
Mr. Maurice was employed with I.P.F. Quality Control for seven years, in the automobile part production. Prior to that he was employed with K-T Corp., Jenn Air for 23 years, Groff Awning and Diamond Chain. He was a crew member and sponsor for H.T. Brown Racing and Duane Lee.
He was the 1992 World Champion in late model and figure 8 at the Speedrom in Indianapolis, and the General Tire National Touring Champion in 1995.
Mr. Maurice graduated in 1964 from Triton Central High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Maurice was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 714 Fair Ave.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Corlis Dees II officiating.
Interment will be in Fairland Cemetery in Fairland.
