Reba Jean (Haehl) McCain died on Sept. 15, 2014. She was 87 years old.
A life-long resident of Shelby County, Reba was born on Nov. 21, 1926 to J. Walter and Opal (Fuchs) Haehl.
She attended Union Township schools and graduated from Waldron High School.
On June 23, 1946, she married Conner D. McCain, and they were married more than 60 years.
Reba is survived by her children, James P. McCain (wife, Sara) of Shelby County; Jean Ann McCain Edney, of Franklin, IN; Laura McCain Patterson (husband, Rex) of Saline, MI; and Michael C. McCain (wife, Dale Ann) of Shelby County. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and close family friends, Jerry and Patty Scott of Shelbyville.
Reba was predeceased by her husband, Conner; her siblings, Chez Haehl, Ina (Haehl) McGuire and Alta (Haehl) Long; and a son who died at birth.
Reba enjoyed gardening, water skiing, camping, bird watching, bowling and playing Yahtzee with her grandchildren. She and Conner enjoyed motorcycle riding and made many trips throughout the country.
Reba was a member of the Country Clubbers Home Ec Club and the Ladies Aid Society of the Bengal Christian Church. She was a devoted and active member of the church, and the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Bengal Christian Church.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m Friday, September 19, 2014 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Bengal Christian Church, 3534 South Shelby 750 West, Franklin .
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Pastor Doug Adams officiating.
Burial to follow at Second Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
