Rebecca Jane Latshaw, 97, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, July 19, 2005.
Born Oct. 3, 1907, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of the late Calvin H. and Nellie (Howard) Kinsley. She married Dr. Clifton P. Latshaw on Sept. 1, 1928, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 2003.
Survivors include one son, Dr. W.K. Latshaw of Saskatchewan, Canada; one daughter, Lois Latshaw Laskowski of Greensburg; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by one son, David Lyman Latshaw; and two brothers, Harold Kinsley and Howard Kinsley.
Mrs. Latshaw had taught at the one-room Stubbs School and at Addison Township School, in Shelby County, and did substitute teaching at Shelbyville elementary schools. In later years she worked as a receptionist in her husband?s veterinary clinic.
In retirement, she worked with her husband on Shelby County history projects including their extensive collection of slides, old pictures and printed materials related to Shelby County and Shelbyville.
She graduated from Shelbyville High School and attended Indiana University and Madam Blaker?s Teacher?s College.
Mrs. Latshaw was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Shelby County Historical Society and Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, Freeman Family Funeral Homes, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gary Huffman officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
