Richard A. Keppel

Richard A. Keppel, 73, of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Greenfield Healthcare Center in Greenfield. He was born July 3, 1946, in Shelbyville, the son of Ervin A. and Roberta Marcille (Elkin) Keppel. Richard is survived by his children, Jason Keppel, Amanda Keppel, Ryan Keppel and Brad Keppel; brother, Paul Keppel and wife, Linda; step-mother, Betty Keppel; and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, David Keppel. Richard was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1966 to 1969. He began working at Knauf Insulation in 1973, and retired with over 30 years of service. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2020 at Miller Cemetery, Cemetery Road in Shelby County, with Doug Keppel officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the local military committee. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
