Richard B. “Dick” Kessinger, 74, of Waldron, passed away June 5, 2015, at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.
He was born July 4, 1940, in Grant County, the son of Thomas and Henrietta (O’Niell) Kessinger. He married Susan Gagetta on June 21, 1980, and she survives.
Richard is also survived by his son, Brandt Kessinger and wife, Brooke and their children, Cole and Alaina, of Pace, Florida; daughter, Laura O’Shea and husband, Kevin and their daughter, Shannon, of San Jose, California; brother, Phil Kessinger and wife, Vicky, of Bowling Green, Kentucky; sisters, Pat Penrod and husband, Lester, of Carolton, Kentucky and Beverly Bayman and husband, John, of Van Buren; and several nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronald “Joe” Kessinger; and a sister, Marsha K. Kessinger.
He graduated from Van Buren High School in 1958 and obtained an associate degree in electronics from San Antonio College in California.
Richard was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran.
He retired from General Motors, as a millwright supervisor.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Rev. Bill Horner officiating.
Richard’s family will celebrate his life at a later date.
