Richard F. Whited, 75, of Morristown, passed away, Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Heritage House of Shelbyville.
He was born January 1, 1938, in Indianapolis, the son of Johnson and Florence E. (Owens) Whited. On September 1, 1961, he married his wife of 50 years, Sandra J. Cox, and she preceded him in death on November 16, 2011.
Survivors include his daughters, Teresa Tompkins of Rushville and Tonya (husband, Darrell) Walton of Shelbyville; sister, Phyllis Chancy of Indianapolis; brother, Raymond Whited of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Crystal (husband, Curtis) Tapp, Richard Phillips and Josh Tompkins; and great-grandchildren, Madison Tapp, Makaylah Phillips, Mason Phillips and Zoey Phillips.
Richard was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Whited; and son-in-law, Bill Tompkins.
He formerly worked at Fuller Farms for 45 years, after retiring he worked in the maintenance department at Wal-Mart in Shelbyville.
Richard served in the Army National Guard.
He was a member of the Persian Horse Club of Indiana.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery.
