Richard E. “Rick” Lowe, 81, of Fountaintown, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2022, at MHP Medical Center in Shelbyville.
He was born October 30, 1940, in Terre Haute, the son of William and Lorraine (Weaver) Lowe. On December 7, 1968, he married his wife of 53 years, Pamela Foust, and she survives.
In addition to Pam, Rick is survived by his son, Eric Lowe of Fountaintown; daughter, Kelly Horne of Terre Haute; grandson, Troy K. Horne and wife, Tracey; great-grandchildren, Troy K. Horne II, Destiny Horne, Devan Horne, Jessica Thompson and Kevin Taylor; sister-in-law, Paula Lowe; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, William Lowe Jr.
Rick graduated in 1958 from Honey Creek High School in Terre Haute. He received his Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan College.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Vietnam Era.
Rick worked for Ford Motor Company, where he was a journeyman millwright, and later retired as a facility maintenance supervisor in February of 1998, with 33 and one-half years of service. After retiring from Ford, he worked for Caravan Knight, Skillman Corporation, Allison, General Motors and Menards. While at Menards, he truly enjoyed working with many different people.
He was a member of the New Palestine Masonic Lodge No. 404 F&AM; Murat Shrine; Knights Templar and a lifetime member of the National Harley Owners Group.
Rick enjoyed riding motorcycles and working.
He was also preceded in death by his dog, Romeo; and survived by his dog, Brody.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville, with Masonic service at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2022, at the funeral home, with Ken L. White officiating.
Entombment will follow at Washington Park East in Indianapolis, with military graveside rites conducted by the local military committee.
