Richard Lee "Rick" Barnes, 51 of Noblesville died Friday, July 20, 2007, in a boating accident at Woods Reservoir, Arnold Air Force Base in Tullahoma, Tenn.
Born July 20, 1956, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Vola L. and Edith B. (Holmes) Barnes. He married Charity A. Miller on July 30, 1977, and she survives.
Other survivors include his mother of Shelbyville; son, Tony Addis of Noblesville; daughters Leslie R. Addis, Valarie R. Barnes, Stefanie R. Barnes and Sandra M. Lauer, all of Noblesville; sister Ginny Poteet of Wisconsin; grandchildren, Jonah, Jonathan, Eden Grace, Elijah and Victoria; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Glenn A. Barnes.
Mr. Barnes was employed at Bridgestone Firestone Diversified Products for 10 years, where he was a SAP production support team leader.
He was a volunteer for the National Kidney Foundation.
Mr. Barnes graduated in 1974 from Shelbyville High School and in 2004 from the University of Indianapolis, with a bachelor of arts degree in general studies, receiving honors summa cum laude.
He was a member of The F.A.M.I.L.Y. and BFDP IT Golf League.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Church of the Nazarene, 2315 S. Riley Highway.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Cremation will follow.
