Richard Ronald McVey, Sr.

Richard Ronald McVey, Sr., 72 of Fountaintown passed away Friday, March 26, 2010 at his residence. Born April 16, 1937 in Harlan, Kentucky, he was the son of Byron C. and Imogene (Cornett) McVey. He married Patsy Faye "Pat" Campbell on June 21, 1955, and she preceded him in death on July 2, 2009. Survivors include his children, Richard Ronald (wife, Vicky) McVey, Jr. and Timothy Lee "Tim" (wife, Sherry) McVey, both of Indianapolis and Patricia Anne (husband, Jeff) Bellinger of Shirley, Indiana; sister, Sandra (husband, Bill) Lipps of Richlands, Virginia and seven grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Mr. McVey was formerly employed as a Supervisor at Navistar until retiring in 1991. He also owned and operated McVey's Excavating from 1969 to 2009. Mr. McVey enjoyed fishing. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Brother Kevin Bryant officiating. Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Association.
