Richard William Harmon, 69, of Shelbyville passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born March 3, 1942, in Jamestown, New York, he was the son of Richard Alonzo and Lydia (Hilcher) Harmon. He married Patricia Guerra and they spent over 42 years of their lives together, and she survives.
Other survivors include his sons, Ron Harmon and Dean Harmon, both of Shelbyville, Richie Harmon and Robbie Harmon, both of Jamestown, New York; sister, Susan (husband, Gene) Conley of Lanoka Harbor, New Jersey; step-brother, Chris O'Brien of Salamanca, New York; step-sister, Patty (husband, Charlie) Smith of Salamanca, New York; several grandchildren including Ashley Walton, Jessica Dunagan, Rona Harmon and Hunter Harmon; and step-mother, Shirley O'Brien Harmon of New York.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Dennis Harmon.
Mr. Harmon was a handyman, retiring in 2002.
He enjoyed fishing and NASCAR.
Mr. Harmon leaves behind his cats, Sunshine and Snowy; his dog Gizmo and cat, Twinkie preceded him.
A Gathering of Friends will be from 2 to 7 pm, Sunday, July 17, 2011 at their residence, 644 7th Street in Shelbyville.
