Rita Weintraut Wamsley, 80, of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Major Hospital.
Born January 13, 1931, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Arthur N. and Dorothy (LaMore) Weintraut. She married Thomas E. Wamsley on October 6, 1951, and he preceded her in death on November 1, 1974.
She is survived by daughter, Julie A. (husband, Dennis M.) Metz of Shelbyville; son-in-law, Ronald D. Browning of Shelbyville, brother, Francis Weintraut of Shelbyville; sister, Mary K. Crum of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Dayn (wife, Brooke Havens) Browning, Beth (husband, Amran) Ahmad, Beau Browning and Angela (husband, Brett) Claxton; and great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Grace Browning and William Cash Claxton.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Carol D. Browning; brothers, Elvin L. Weintraut and Robert J. Weintraut; and a sister, Martha J. Thornburg.
Mrs. Wamsley graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1949.
She retired in 1986 as a bank officer at Shelby National Bank.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 am, Monday, May 16, 2011 at Forest Hill Cemetery, 704 Morris Avenue.
