Robert A. Johnson, 67, of Shelbyville passed away Sunday, December 28, 2008 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born March 11, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana he was the son of Arnold "A.J." Johnson and Dorothy Marie (Rumley) Settle. He married Barbara J. "Bobbi" Nicoloff on October 4, 2001 and she survives.
Other survivors include sons, Robert Arnold (wife, Jody) Johnson, Jr. of Greenfield, Indiana, Lorne Keith (wife, Lynn) Newkirk of Indianapolis and Lonnie Edwin (wife, Laura) Newkirk of Summerville, South Carolina; daughters, Danta Johnson of Indianapolis, Amanda Lynnette (husband, Darren) Youngblood of Marion, Illinois, Lora Ann (husband, Danny) Jeffers, of Lebanon, Indiana, La-Ronda Dee (husband, Ray) Shaw of Shelbyville and Roxanne Lilly of Indianaplis; sister, Frances Settle of Indianapolis; mother-in-law, Sharon J. Rudolph of Indianapolis; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and former wife, Ella May "Ellie" Johnson.
Mr. Johnson retired from Chrylser Corporation, Kokomo plant, in 1999 after 33 years of service as a line foreman.
He served as a U.S. Marine from 1958 to 1961.
Mr. Johnson was a member of F.O.E. Aeries Lodge No. 766 in Shelbyville, Indianapolis Masonic Lodge, where he was a Past Worshipful Master and Scottish Rite.
He attended Indianapolis Public School #73 and Tech High School.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 1, 2009 at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Miller Cemetery.
