Robert C. Blacker, 28, of Shelbyville, passed away, Thursday, June 16, 2016 at IU Health Morgan Campus in Martinsville. He was born August 17, 1987, in Robinson, Illinois, the son of Michael Blacker and Brenda Parks. He married Erika Benfield, on October 7, 2012, and she survives with their first child expected in December. Robert is also survived by his father of Washington; mother of Shelbyville; sister, Chantelle Parks of Shelbyville; paternal grandmother, Mary Hare of Washington; paternal grandfather, James Robert Blacker of Sumner, Illinois; maternal grandmother, Oma Berthold of Robinson, Illinois; uncle and aunt, Jeff and Rachel Blacker, of Carmel; father and mother-in-law, Scott and Angela Benfield, of Farmer City, Illinois; niece, Lillie; and nephew, Christian. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Bill Berthold. Robert was a construction worker. He enjoyed fishing and working on cars and motorcycles. Robert loved his family and spending time with them. A Gathering of Friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2016 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. A Celebration of Robert’s life will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Baby Blacker’s Educational Fund, in care of the funeral home.
