Robert C. Buck, 77, of Morristown, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Kindred Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was born September 21, 1935, in Covington, Kentucky. The son of Robert C. Sr. and Leone (Kail) Buck. He was married to Janet Gwinnup of Rushville from 1956 to 1978, and she survives. On September 21, 1995, he married Norma Marie Dilley, and she preceded him in death on January 16, 2004. His companion for the last 10 years is Steffey Johnson of Morristown, and she survives. Other survivors include his sons, Mark R. (wife, Terri) Buck of Griffin, Georgia and Scott D. Buck of Nashua, New Hampshire; daughter, Tracy A. (husband, Chris) Jennings of Greenfield; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and a half sister, Patti Buck. Robert graduated from Arlington High School in 1953. He was a member of Arlington Christian Church and American Legion Post #102. Robert was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1958 to 1967. He was formerly the Greenfield City water manager from 1967 to 1970; the superintendent of the Shelby County Highway Department from 1976 to 1978, serving during the blizzard of 1978. Robert retired in 1995, after over 20 years of service, from Caldwell Gravel Sales. He loved music, fishing and having a good time with his friends. Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm, Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown. Funeral services will be at 1 pm, Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Arlington East Hill Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the Morristown American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post No. 102, in care of the funeral home.
