Robert D. "Beanie" Johnson, 71, of Morristown passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Heritage House Convalescent Center, after a lengthy illness of Alzheimer's disease.
Born October 10, 1938, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Hubert Glen and Pauline D. (Shank) Johnson. He married Linda L. Harris on July 7, 1961, and she survives.
Other survivors include his daughters, Marietta L. Carlton of Morristown and Kayanne Johnson of Louisville, Kentucky; brothers, Ronald L. (wife, Karen) Johnson of Dalton, Georgia and Roger W. (wife, Vicki) Johnson of Livonia, Michigan; and grandchildren, Jacob, Kaylin and Heath.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Johnson owned and operated Duane's Sales and Service Inc. from 1970 to 2000.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Bay of Pigs and was discharged in October of 1963.
Mr. Johnson graduated from Morristown High School in 1956, and attended Purdue University.
He was a member of Morristown Masonic Lodge, Morristown American Legion, Morristown Chamber of Commerce and Morristown Christian Church. He was formerly an active member of Morristown Lions Club.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with Masonic rites conducted at 8 p.m., Friday at Morristown Christian Church, 209 S. Washington St. in Morristown.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Pastor Fred Hickman, the Rev. Jim Coyle and Bill Farmer officiating.
Interment will be in Hanover Cemetery, Morristown.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
