Robert D. ³Nick² Leming, 81, of Shelbyville died Monday, May 28, 2007, at
his home.
Born Sept. 3, 1926, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Robert Omer and Marie
(Thompson) Leming. He married Jeannine Dale of Shelbyville and she survives.
Other survivors include his children, Robert (wife, Christine) Leming of
Shelbyville and Kris (wife, Nancy) Leming of Indianapolis; daughter, Lee Ann
(husband, Dan) Haehl of Shelbyville; brother, Barry Buchannan of
Shelbyville; grandchildren, Shawn Leming, Cole Leming, Brittney Leming, Nick
Haehl and Jordan Haehl, all of Shelbyville, Aaron Leming and Matthew Leming,
both of Indianapolis and Melissa Dunigan of Martinsville; and
great-grandson, Bently Elliott of Shelbyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Leming; and
grandson, Kyle Leming.
Mr. Leming was a lifelong Shelbyville resident.
He was a banker with Shelby National Bank for 40 years, where he held
various positions until his retirement in 1988.
Mr. Leming was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Korea from 1945 to 1947 with a
peace keeping unit.
He was active with service to the Shelbyville Community, serving on the
Shelbyville Central School Board for eight years, Shelbyville Boy¹s Club
Board of Directors and The Salvation Army Building committee and many other
service organizations.
Mr. Leming was a member of Shelbyville Elk¹s Club for more than 50 years.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Family Funeral
Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the
Rev. Mary Lundgren officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
