Robert E. Simpson, 75, of Shelbyville passed away Monday, February 3, 2020 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus.
He was born January 16, 1945, in Shelby County, the son of Rev. Robert and Mary A. (Hansford) Simpson. On August 10, 1963, he married Reba F. Stainbrook, and she preceded him in death on July 16, 2018.
Robert is survived by his son, Gary Simpson and wife, Lisa, of Edinburgh; daughter, Lisa Krise and husband, Todd, of Shelbyville; brother, Floyd Rash of Jasonville; sister, Betty Rady of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Whitney Simpson, Dustin Simpson and wife, Jenn, Koty Simpson, Tyler Smothers and wife, Kylie and Haley Davis; great-grandchildren, Cameron Simpson, Alexis Davis and Lillian Davis; and numerous nieces, nephews and very special cousins.
In addition to Reba, Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dean Rash; and sisters, Carolyn Robertson and Gleela Stocklin Critser.
Robert attended Southwestern High School.
He retired from Shelby Materials.
Robert loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them.
He was a member of Hope Community Church of God and one of the joys of Robert’s life was spreading the gospel. He was often sharing his love by teaching Sunday school or officiating the funeral of a dear friend or family member.
Robert enjoyed going to his woods and tinkering with his old trucks.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2020 at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
