Robert Edward Meredith, 76, Indianapolis, a former Shelbyville resident, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born May 17, 1934 in Greensburg, Indiana. Survivors include his sons, Kelly E. Meredith and Kris L. (wife, Suzanne) Meredith, both of Shelbyville, Kevin D. "Buzz" (wife, Mary) Meredith and Kurtis Stacy (wife, Sherri) Meredith, both of Indianapolis, and Kyle S. Meredith of Manilla; daughter, Kimberly S. (husband, Jeff) Ellison of Knightstown; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Meredith. Mr. Meredith was raised by his grandmother and aunt in Greensburg. He graduated from Greensburg High School in 1954. Mr. Meredith was a former Shelbyville resident, moving to Indianapolis approximately eight years ago. He retired as the plant supervisor of Compton Dairy with more than 40 years of service. Mr. Meredith enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, woodworking and raising his family. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 1 pm, Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the funeral home, Pastor Mark Watkins officiating. Interment will be in Moscow Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, 6415 Castleway West Drive, Suite 114, Indianapolis, Indiana 46250.
