Robert L. Reed, 87, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Golden Living in Greenfield. He was born September 14, 1927, in Hope, the son of Albert and Mary Agnes (Gordon) Reed. He married Sharla Mae Smith on September 18, 1948, and she preceded him in death on May 11, 2005. Survivors include his sons, Richard C. Reed and wife, Shirley, of Beech Grove, Randy L. Reed and wife, Donna, of Arlington and Ron L. Reed and wife, Kathy of Shelbyville; daughter, Mary Ann Branson and husband, Mark of Greenfield; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and seven brothers and sisters. Robert was a veteran of the US Army, serving during World War II, in Germany. He was a school bus driver from 1964 to 1974; and a contractor and farmer in the Morristown and Fountaintown area, retiring in 2004. Robert was chief of the Fountaintown Fire Department in 1965. He enjoyed woodworking. Visitation will be from 10 am to 12 noon Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown. Funeral services will be at 12 noon Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Mike Harroll officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, P.O. box 265, Morristown, Indiana 46161.
